Wood Works
Jewelry Trends

With wood a popular material for fine jewelry for several years now, designers continue to be inspired by the possibilities of this organic material. Today’s new naturalism trend embraces the warm organic feeling of this iconic natural material. With “green” design more important than ever in our culture, the use of wood just keeps growing. New jewelry styles feature a wider range of materials, from coconut wood to maple to ebony. Although silver and wood styles bring the warmth of wood to affordable jewelry, the category also now includes the extravagance of fancy colored diamonds. Although the raw material is affordable, the designs aren’t necessarily so, since the craftsmanship in many of the pieces includes the hand-workmanship that makes these pieces of jewelry truly fine. — Cheryl Kremkow
