Top Trends from Basel


Does innovation flower in hard times? New materials, techniques, and silhouettes were launched at Baselworld this year. Even high-end brands focused on introducing lower price points and value looks like multi-stone “solitaires.” The trend for unusual gem materials, wood, new metals, and new colors continues, adding variety to the world of luxury jewelry. As expected, many brands launched new silver collections, including Roberto Coin.

LUXE TITANIUM
Stephen Webster, Autore, Roberto Coin, and Giovanni Ferraris launched new titanium designs for the first time in Basel, joining the growing number of high-end designers experimenting with the metal’s strength, light weight, and vivid colors. ELEGANT DROPS

LEATHER BRACELETS
Leather is more popular than ever, adding a laid-back beach feeling to bracelets at Calgaro and Denoir. At the other extreme, Sevan also launched luxe leather bracelets. COCKTAIL RINGS
It’s the year of the ring. Every designer presented bold new styles, many casual enough to wear every day. ORGANIC COINS

EIGHTIES INSPIRATION
Many styles launched at the fair channel the eighties. Roberto Coin even launched a new collection of “Tubogas” bracelets. Eighties style pieces were often refined by using a new updated palette.
