Stylish Sequins
Jewelry Trends

As Marilyn Monroe often demonstrated, sequins are made for the spotlight. These shimmery flat discs are named after a small gold coin minted in Venice in 1284. Inspiration has come full circle: Sequins of gold are now adorning jewelry designs. These dancing discs of thin gold add lots of glitter without adding too much weight. Sequin-inspired designs adroitly walk the line between modern geometry and bohemian excess. Strictly speaking, in most cases, the inspiration is paillettes—sequins super-sized into larger-scale circles. Whatever you call it, sequin or paillette jewelry appears to be a strong direction for summer. — Cheryl Kremkow
