Red (and Blue) Roses
Jewelry Trends

Rose cuts are one of the strongest trends in diamond jewelry. And more designers are now also experimenting with rose cut colored gemstones. The trend began with fancy sapphires. Now rubies are available in rose cuts as well. And amethyst, citrine, iolite, and other more affordable gemstones are appearing in the popular antique-looking cut. Even opaque gems like onyx and chalcedony are being cut in faceted tops that resemble rose cuts. One advantage to the gentle brilliance of rose cut faceting: color is maximized. And even translucent gems look great with the sparkle of the faceted top. Rose cut gemstones help make the popular vintage-meets-modern look available at a wider array of affordable price points. — Cheryl Kremkow
