Pearl Premiere
Pearl Scene

Chanel is one of the few designer fine jewelry lines that can boast a stable of iconic watches, from its “Matelasse” and “Camelia” jewelry watches to its high-tech ceramic “J12.” On the heels of its recent celebration of pearls associated with its founder, Coco Chanel, the brand is introducing a new “Premiere” watch replete with 194 akoya pearls on fine 18k white gold woven threads.

Jacques Helleu, Chanel’s creative director, says the new pearl watch incorporates elements from two other iconic Chanel watches: the Premiere, which debuted in 1987 with its Place Vendôme shaped case, and the “Mademoiselle” watch, known for its akoya pearl bracelet. The dial is covered in baguette diamonds, and diamonds also grace the case back and bracelet clasp. — Jeff Prine
