Inaugural Jewels
Last Detail

As the nation’s attention turns to Washington this month, the fashion industry waits to see what the new first lady will wear to the Inaugural Balls. Jewelers, too, have something to look forward to: Michelle Obama is a new fashion role model. She’s a walking example of recession glamour, personalizing outfits from accessible stores like J. Crew and White House Black Market with her stylish wardrobe of necklaces, earrings, and especially brooches. In fact, she may single-handedly bring back the brooch with her habit of wearing a single bold pin centered on the neckline. But on inauguration night, fashion followers will also be looking to her ears for a major style statement. On election night, her sparkling Loree Rodkin earrings, shown here, lit up the stage. And unlike the actresses that will walk the red carpet at award shows, Obama buys and wears her own jewelry. She wore the Rodkin earrings earlier to a Springsteen concert and we’ll no doubt be seeing a lot of them in the years to come. To help you celebrate the inauguration of a new jewelry style icon, we’ve gathered some Obama-inspired earrings to help your customers celebrate the birth of a new jewelry style icon. — Cheryl Kremkow
