Gold's New Leaf
Jewelry Scene

World Gold Council is calling on celebrities to design a gold pendant necklace with a leaf motif to benefit a good cause. Three of each leaf pendant will be made: one for the celebrity to wear, one to be auctioned off at a star-studded gala in May 2009 to benefit the star’s charity or Jewelers for Children, and one for a special collection that will tour jewelers around the country. “Bringing together highly talented celebrities with renowned jewelry designers will create exciting and innovative gold designs,” says John Calnon, managing director for World Gold Council, U.S. “The simultaneous benefit to multiple charities, especially in such difficult economic times, makes for a meaningful and lasting impact.”

The first celebrity participating is Debra Messing, executive producer and star of USA Network’s “The Starter Wife,” who will collaborate with Robert Lee Morris to benefit Youth AIDS. In addition, consumers will be able to enter a contest for a chance to win the piece of gold jewelry created by Messing and Morris which will be featured in an advertorial in the February and May 2009 issues of InStyle magazine. All celebrity leaf designs will be shown at
