Jewelry Trends

One of the most important new shapes in jewelry design is the disk. The trend for flat circular shapes began with medallion pendants but is now appearing in earrings, rings, and necklaces too. Most styles feature disks of black onyx, white agate, turquoise, or other ornamental gemstones for a bold polka-dot pop of color. Others add dimension to this flat silhouette with relief designs for a coin-like effect. Coins, too, remain very popular in jewelry designs, adding to the impact of this trend. When selling this style, remember it’s rich and thin. This bold day-to-night look offers a lot of impact without a lot of weight and the slim profile makes it very comfortable to wear. — Cheryl Kremkow
