Although retailers say there are some categories of fine jewelry where sales are off so far this year, more often than not, the fine watch business continues to grow. Indeed, more often than not, consumers of fine watches are looking to trade up to better brands, values, and qualities. Some seek those qualities in established, longtime brand names. Others seek quality and distinction in lesser known brands. Whatever the motive, retailers say that the decade long work of educating and exposing American consumers to fine watches is paying off over the counter.
