Buyer's Choice: Bestselling Bridal
Buyer's Choice

What's selling in the bridal departments of leading independent jewelers across the country?

New clean-lined engagement ring styles are becoming popular with consumers, retailers say. Of course, white metals still dominate, with palladium joining platinum and white gold on the menu at many jewelers. Retailers also report that antique inspired styles with hand engraving, micro-pavé, and filigree are still very strong.

The trend for women's diamond wedding bands is a challenge and an opportunity, retailers say. Because many popular engagement rings don't have matching bands available, many stores are creating their own.

In men's bands, demand for discreet diamonds continues to grow. Even men who prefer a plain band are more likely to trade up to platinum, especially if the engagement ring is in platinum.
