		<description>It is common practice to quote millimeter size and not carat weight on colored stones because they each have a different specific gravity. It helps the consumer know how "big", how much area the stone takes up to give the millimeter instead. If you tell the customer the carat weight of a sapphire they will expect the sapphire to be the same millimeter as a diamond of the same weight and will be disappointed because it is smaller than the diamond of the same weight. The sapphire is heavier and so smaller at the same weight.</description>
