Cranky Consumer Borrows Jewelry
s it a sign of a growing trend? The Wall Street Journal’s Cranky Consumer column tried out jewelry rental sites this week. The column gave rave reviews to Adornbrides.com. The WJS rented a pair of single-strand diamond earrings for two days for $90 plus shipping. The bride-oriented site has about 20 pairs of earrings, 14 necklaces, and seven bracelets. Top price is $960 to rent a diamond necklace set with 9.26 cts of diamonds the site values at $26,800. The site doesn’t encourage other renters: it asks you for your wedding date, not when you want to rent and the selection is focused on pretty conservative bride-type items. Other sites mentioned in the story are Bagborroworsteal.com, which we wrote about in Something Borrowed, in May, and two costume jewelry rental sites Borrowedbling.com and Imoveritonline.com. Bagborroworsteal.com is criticized for not including addressed return envelope.

There was another website that I found that was not mentioned but offers designer jewelry & watches to rent for women & men called http://www.blingyourself.com. I rented something for my wedding & customer service were so nice.
Look I really appreciate the trend that companies follow the netflix model. I totally get http://www.adornbrides.com and http://www.bagborroworsteal.com even though I am not their target audience unlike http://www.blingyourself.com that offer designer jewelry for men and women. But, come on - seriously - how did imoveritonline make it there. Their jewelry costs about $30 retail and they rent it for $30. I think someone must have done them a personal favor since they are absolutely not in the league of bagborroworsteal, adornbrides or blingyourself
Great saving by shopping at Jewelry Television Coupon Codes..
I read tjhis article and felt like chipping in….I ordered from Adorn brides and I was extremely happy, this is the real deal…I can’t afford to buy a set and just for one day I felt beautiful. I think it’s a great idea. I did look at http://www.blingyourself.com but it’s not elegant enough for wedding’s, it’s great for parties though!
I agree with Nikki. Adorn Brides is amazing. It sounds like Michael works for them…since he sounds so bent.
